Pre Treatment And Aftercare Checklist For Aesthetic Procedures

Good results from aesthetic treatments depend not only on what happens in the clinic, but also on how you prepare and how you care for your skin afterwards. At MedAcademy in Crawley we give every patient clear instructions, but it can be helpful to have a simple checklist in one place.

Before Your Treatment: General Preparation

There are some basic steps that apply to most aesthetic procedures:

  • Avoid sunbeds and intense sun exposure before your appointment
  • Do not start new, very active skincare products right before treatment
  • Inform your practitioner about any changes in medications or health
  • Come to your appointment with clean skin and no heavy makeup on the treated area

Before Injectables (Botox And Fillers)

For injectable treatments you may also be advised to:

  • Avoid alcohol and intense exercise 24 hours before the procedure
  • Limit blood thinning supplements where medically possible (always consult your doctor)
  • Plan your treatment at least two weeks before important events

Before Laser, Peels And Microneedling

For skin based procedures we often recommend:

  • Stop using strong acids and retinoids several days before treatment
  • Avoid waxing or other aggressive hair removal on the treated area
  • Do a patch test when required for your safety

Aftercare: First 24–48 Hours

Immediately after treatment your skin may be red, slightly swollen or sensitive. Typical rules include:

  • Avoid hot baths, saunas and intense exercise for a short period
  • Do not touch or scratch the treated area
  • Use only the products recommended by your practitioner

Aftercare: Ongoing Protection

To maintain your results and protect your skin:

  • Use broad spectrum SPF every day, especially after peels and laser
  • Keep a simple, gentle skincare routine while the skin is healing
  • Attend follow up appointments and maintenance sessions as advised

Why Following Instructions Matters

Skipping preparation or aftercare can increase the risk of irritation, pigmentation issues or unsatisfactory results. At MedAcademy in Crawley we always provide clear, written aftercare leaflets and explain each step so that you feel confident at home.

If you are planning an aesthetic procedure and want to know exactly how to prepare, book a consultation at MedAcademy and we will guide you through the process step by step.
